When the indicator light came on saying it was time to get a new filter, I could not determine what filter I needed to order and the filter that came with the fridge did not have a brand name or model number written on it. Turns out this is the correct filter for a wide range of brands (see subject line above). At a local appliance store it was selling for $22 but here on amazon it was less than $10 so I ordered two. I am mainly writing this review to point out that this filter DOES work on Kitchenaid and many other brands of refrigerators, not only Whirlpool (this was not at all clear from the product description when I read it.). Even the owners manual that came with my refrigerator did not tell me what model to order. I think a lot of us consider maintenance a drag unless it is simple and nothing could be easier to replace than this air filter. Since we tend to put everything in closed containers in the refrigerator and use up stored foods quickly, the main reason I consider it good to have an air filter would be to keep the circulating air as fresh as possible due to anything that could enter the refrigerator during door openings. Let's face it, you can't be too careful with food storage. I think this is a great idea from Whirlpool that will make the most fastidious cook feel happy and safe. We give this Whirlpool filter a 5! |
